Where I am from Civilization Poem
I am from a kingdom that was taken over and that rose on its own
A place where we would always fight to keep what was ours
I am from a civilization called the Hittites
Those who are great in some ways and weak in others
I am from a place where we have the land to feed us
The Three sisters, fruit, nuts, wheat and barley are plentiful
Also a place where we speak a language not know today called Hattic.
A place where is now today modern-day Turkey, a place we used to call home
I am from a place where we were the first to build special weapons
They were made out of iron and we defeated the Egyptians many times
I am from a place whose religion is lost our tablets are destroyed by those who wish to change us
The one god that I know of is worshiped through our Huwasi stones
I am from a background where my people were sold into slavery
I am from a place where the dolls my mother used to make meant something
I am from a place where we used to make ornaments out of gold and silver for fun
We also used to make mythical creatures out of them too
They would be lions, snakes and sphinxes
I am from a place where I have seen bloodshed,
I have felt pain and despair and heard the cries of war
I am from a place where my king Suppiluliuma had expanded our surroundings
And my other kind Hattusili has made peace with the Egyptians
I am from a place where a new baby in the family was born we would celebrate
And we would dance to the drums all night
I am from a kingdom that was taken over and that rose on its own
I am from a kingdom that was taken over and that rose on its own
A place where we would always fight to keep what was ours
